Atsuko "Akko-chan" Kagami is a lively elementary school child with a special fondness for mirrors. After the cherished mirror given by a parent is shattered, she buries it in her yard rather than discard it. That act of care draws the attention of a supernatural presence, sometimes portrayed as a spirit or as the monarch of a mirror realm, who appears to her in a dream. Touched by her respect for the mirror, the entity grants Akko-chan an enchanted mirror and teaches her a spell that enables her to change her form into whatever she desires. The story follows her adventures as a young girl exploring the possibilities and responsibilities of this transformative magic.
