After the war that toppled the Tokugawa Shogunate has concluded, some survivors remain discontented with the result. Shigure Takimi, who lost friends and relatives to the conflict, becomes consumed by resentment and gathers a group of desperate insurgents determined to seek one last reckoning. Their path brings them into direct opposition with Kenshin Himura. When Shigure uncovers Kenshin's former role as the Hitokiri Battousai, the confrontation shifts from political grievance to a personal vendetta, intensifying Shigure's drive for retribution while challenging Kenshin's legacy.
