Synopsis

Sailor Moon leads the Sailor Guardians as they defend Earth, but Sailor Mars begins experiencing catastrophic visions and two additional protectors—Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus—arrive, marking the start of a new conflict. Neptune and Uranus hunt for three Talismans hidden within the Pure Heart Crystals of ordinary people; combined, these items form the Holy Grail, a relic of immense power they intend to use to avert global catastrophe. Opposing them are the Death Busters, an antagonistic group pursuing the Grail for their own ends. The extraction of a Talisman from a human Heart Crystal is fatal, a loss Neptune and Uranus accept as necessary to assemble the Grail, while Sailor Moon and her companions refuse to countenance such deaths. The story examines whether sacrificing individuals can ever be justified by the prospect of saving all humanity, as loyalties, convictions, and the fate of people caught in the struggle become central to the guardians' choices.
