Synopsis

On his tenth birthday Satoshi oversleeps and receives an unexpected partner: a headstrong Pikachu who refuses to cooperate. Their relationship begins with friction but develops into a deep friendship and true partnership. After witnessing the Legendary Pokémon Houou in flight and seeing the Rainbow Wing it leaves behind, Satoshi and Pikachu decide to follow that clue and seek the legendary being. Trainers Makoto and Souji accompany them as companions on the journey. Along the way Satoshi rescues and trains an abandoned Hitokage, nurtures a Caterpie through its evolution to Butterfree and ultimately lets it go so it can follow its own path, and encounters the enigmatic Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. As they approach their destination, they face opposition from Cross, the proud former Trainer of Hitokage, whose arrogance threatens to halt their progress. The group must confront this powerful rival and overcome obstacles if Satoshi and Pikachu are to keep their promise and reach Houou.
