Synopsis

For over four centuries the Takamimi Shrine in Tokyo has housed Elda, an immortal elf summoned centuries ago and venerated by locals. The shrine’s caretaking role has passed down through one family for fifteen generations; now sixteen-year-old Koito Koganei inherits that duty. As Elda’s shrine maiden, Koito must juggle ordinary school life with the obligations of serving a goddess who avoids social contact, delights in video games, collects toys, and favors snacks. Koito’s efforts center on accommodating Elda’s solitary comforts while gently encouraging her to engage with people beyond the shrine. In the process, Koito uncovers more about the shrine’s past and the reasons the community cherishes and indulges Elda.
