Synopsis

Nanba is an extreme-security facility designed for offenders who repeatedly evade standard detention. Cell 13 houses four escape artists who have never failed to break out of previous institutions: Juugo, a lifelong inmate and lock expert; Uno, a gambler guided by sharp instincts; Nico, an otaku whose physiology reacts oddly to substances; and Rock, a heavyset fighter with a passion for food. Their inventive antics and schemes consistently test the resolve of Hajime Sugoroku, the building supervisor committed to keeping them confined. Presented with a mix of comedic episodes and bright, energetic moments, the series depicts their routines—from meals and athletic events to everyday interactions—showing that despite the setting, prison life at Nanba provides a sense of belonging for the four men and complicated bonds between prisoners and guards.
