Synopsis

After returning from the enchanted realm known as The Universe of the Four Gods, Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongo attempt to resume normal lives, with Miaka allowed to keep Tamahome by her side. Their fragile peace is shattered when, during a visit to the graves of two other girls who had ventured into that world, a red light swallows Tamahome and he disappears before Miaka's eyes. Keisuke and his friend Tetsuya Kajiwara witness the event and commit to helping Miaka locate her missing partner. Tamahome finds himself dragged back into the book’s interior and discovers that five decades have elapsed there; moreover, he wakes to find his identity exchanged with that of his former foe, Nakago. As the lovers confront unfamiliar dangers and the implications of Tamahome’s altered existence, their allies work against time to reunite them, leaving open the question of whether love can overcome these new obstacles. Meanwhile, the Celestial Warriors of Suzaku and Seiryuu and their priestesses are given a bus excursion to a secluded hot spring resort. The long journey becomes lively as the group amuses itself with playful antics, unaware of an unexpected event awaiting them at their destination.
