Synopsis

In the Kingdom of Windbloom, Arika Yumemiya enters Garderobe Academy aiming to qualify as an Otome—a young, unmarried girl able to wield a HiME, a powerful materializing device granting formidable destructive power. Her personal goal is to locate her mother, who once served as a Meister Otome, the elite rank that acts as a nation’s dedicated protector and ultimate weapon. At the academy Arika befriends Nina Wáng, an accomplished student within the Otome program, and Mashiro Blan de Windbloom, the kingdom’s reigning princess. Together they adapt to academy life as Arika commits herself to rigorous training, navigates friendships and rivalries, and hones the abilities required of an Otome. Gradually she discovers that the path to becoming an Otome carries serious risks and is entangled with harsh political maneuvering. Confronted with complex personal conflicts and moral choices, Arika faces the need for sacrifice if she is to fulfill her objectives and understand her place in the wider turmoil surrounding the Otome system.
