Synopsis

A boy once heard bell-like chimes from a nearby mountain on a warm summer day. Years pass, and on that same mountain the mushishi Ginko discovers an unusual young woman whose body is interwoven with plant life. Shortly afterward he meets the now-grown boy, Yoshiro, as Yoshiro departs the mountain. Together, with Yoshiro's assistance, Ginko gradually pieces together the identity of this mysterious girl, known as Kaya, and the events that tied her to the mountain. This narrative adapts the manga's final arc and follows Ginko's contemplative, supernatural investigation into the connection between Kaya and the mountain that shelters her.
