Synopsis

Adapted from Kawai Katsutoshi's manga serialized in Weekly Shounen Sunday, this sports series follows Tadano Kenji, whose baseball ambitions are curtailed by his stature. On his coach's suggestion, he explores professional speedboat racing. After a chance reunion with a former girlfriend, they make a pact: she will remain loyal if he can rise to become Japan's leading racer within three years. During a visit to her, Kenji devises a distinctive boat technique called the "Monkey Turn," which gives him a competitive edge. The story tracks his pursuit of that goal, the challenges of mastering the sport, and whether his new maneuver will be sufficient to reach the top.
