Suletta Mercury departs her homeworld to attend Asticassia School of Technology at her mother's request. At this academy, students settle disputes and determine status through one-on-one duels; the highest-ranking victor will gain Miorine Rembran as a fiancée, a decision overseen by Miorine's father. When Guel Jeturk, the school's top pilot and Miorine's current betrothed, insists that Miorine live with him, Suletta objects and is challenged to a duel. Although Suletta wins, authorities detain her on suspicion of operating a prohibited mobile suit known as a Gund-ARM, commonly called a Gundam, which nullifies her victory. Unwilling to accept this reversal, Miorine arranges a rematch with greater consequences. Suletta must secure a second victory to avoid expulsion and to prevent the destruction of the Gundam Aerial, an instrument of great personal importance to her.
