In Cosmic Era 0071, a clash between two mobile suits devastates a neutral nation and leaves Shinn Asuka bereaved by the loss of his family. Convinced that Earth-aligned Natural forces are to blame, Shinn dedicates himself to retribution and rises through ZAFT’s ranks until he pilots the prototype Impulse mobile suit. Meanwhile, Athrun Zala, a seasoned combatant serving diplomat Cagalli Yula Athha, becomes involved as tensions flare anew between Naturals and Coordinators—people engineered before birth and resented for their enhanced traits.
