Synopsis

In the 74th year of the Cosmic Era, the long conflict between earthbound Naturals and space-born Coordinators nears its end. After a significant reversal, Kira Yamato takes command of the Strike Freedom Gundam and leads the Archangel crew in a high-risk operation to prevent the activation of the Requiem, a planet-scale weapon designed to eliminate much of humanity. Alongside him stands Athrun Zala, a close friend and rival who must confront former comrades, including Shinn Asuka—pilot of the Destiny Gundam—who regards Athrun as a betrayer and an impediment to what he sees as a peaceful future. As decisive mobile suit battles unfold, the series concludes a vast, emotionally fraught conflict between factions of humans unable to reconcile their differences.
