In the near future, humanity experiences a fresh energy revolution after the discovery of Photon Power, a potent resource found beneath Mt. Fuji intended to resolve global energy shortages. A mad scientist named Dr. Hell, driven by a desire for domination, seeks control of this resource. Alongside his lieutenants—Baron Ashura, Count Brocken, and Viscount Pygman—he directs an army of mechanical monsters unearthed from the ruins of ancient Greece to capture the Photon Power research facility. Opposing this threat is hot-blooded teenager Kabuto Kouji, who operates the Photon-powered giant robot constructed by his grandfather, Mazinger Z.
