Synopsis

The trio—Riko, Reg, and Nanachi—venture deeper into the Abyss after forming a bond through shared grief. Their next destination is the Sea of Corpses, the fifth stratum from which travelers can still return without becoming something other than human. Standing between them and further descent is Bondrewd, a masked researcher whose brutal experiments define a grim final barrier. His laboratory functions as a cruel gate for those attempting to continue downward, and he resists letting Riko's party pass without exacting a price. Nanachi, haunted by their own history with Bondrewd, is thrown into emotional conflict when he reappears. The scientist’s lone vulnerability appears to be Prushka, an outspoken child who presents herself as his daughter. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi form a connection with Prushka and collaborate with her to confront Bondrewd’s schemes and seek entry to the sixth layer of the Abyss.
