A new academic year at Yuigaoka Girls' High brings fresh students while the school idol unit Liella! seeks to grow its ranks. The group's reputation for exceptional performances has made them intimidating to newcomers, who worry about the demanding practice that membership might require. Concerned about recruitment, co-founder and captain Kanon Shibuya encounters first-year Kinako Sakurakouji and introduces her to the essence of school idol activities. Kinako is moved by the idea but doubts her own potential, seeing herself as ordinary compared to Liella!'s gifted performers. Despite her hesitations, Kinako is encouraged to become part of the ensemble and to pursue their shared aspiration of competing in the upcoming Love Live! tournament.
