Synopsis

For more than 150 years, two star-spanning powers have vied for dominance of the Milky Way. The Galactic Empire, an absolute monarchy under Kaiser Friedrich IV with a powerful hereditary nobility, aims to crush insurgents challenging the crown. The Free Planets Alliance, a representative democracy governed by a corrupt High Council, deteriorates as its elected officials exploit conflict to bolster their standing. This long stalemate shifts with the emergence of two contrasting military leaders. Reinhard von Lohengramm, a minor noble elevated to High Admiral through exceptional strategic skill and the influence of his sister’s role as the Kaiser’s favored concubine, seeks to unify humanity under his authority and reshape the galaxy. Opposing him, Yang Wen-li, a historian turned reluctant commodore celebrated for his actions at El Facil, leverages tactical insight to compensate for his superiors’ failings while aiming to build a durable peace. As war continues, both commanders pursue their visions and contend for recognition as the pivotal figures who will determine the next era among the stars.
