Synopsis

Kohachi Inugami, an investigator versed in supernatural matters, is called to an isolated countryside village to look into unexplained cases of rotting, mutilated farm animals. While examining the scene, he notices a solitary young laborer in the fields, shunned by others and nicknamed for his foul odor. The boy, surprised by the attention, is drawn into Inugami’s inquiry despite the villagers’ distrust. As the detective pursues the mystery, the boy is gradually introduced to a concealed reality where beastlike beings known as Kemono coexist with people, and the experience brings a renewed sense of purpose to his previously empty existence.
