Synopsis

Kaiji Itou, a disengaged drifter, is pushed into crisis when a coworker’s unpaid loan becomes his burden and violent collectors demand repayment. Lacking funds or prospects, he accepts an offer to board the luxurious Espoir, where a single night of high-stakes gambling promises to clear debts. What begins as one risky evening evolves into a contest of cunning and treachery: participants who lose face a lifetime of servitude under crushing obligations. Forced to weigh each decision and choose allies with care, Kaiji is drawn into escalating gambles that threaten his life and force him to test the limits of his intelligence and resolve.
