Synopsis

Takumi Fujiwara, who helps run his family's tofu shop, has little interest in automobiles and views driving as a tedious part of his daily delivery route along Mount Akina. His routine is interrupted when the Akagi Red Suns, a notorious street racing team led by brothers Ryousuke and Keisuke Takahashi, come to test the mountain pass as they aim to rule Kanto’s courses. On their return from Akina, one of the Red Suns’ top drivers is unexpectedly passed by an aging Toyota AE86. The brothers grow wary of this anonymous racer, impressed by the precise technique and intimate knowledge of the mountain roads displayed by the AE86’s driver. The encounter introduces an enigmatic opponent whose driving skill reshapes how the Red Suns view the local racing scene.
