Synopsis

Hell operates like a regimented administration under Hoozuki, the pragmatic and ruthless deputy to Lord Enma. Tasked with keeping infernal operations efficient, he advises legendary figures such as Momotarou, fields formal envoys from other mythic Hells, and solves workplace crises with uncompromising methods. The series follows Hoozuki’s day-to-day management of a supernatural bureaucracy populated by familiar characters from Japanese and East Asian lore, presenting anachronistic, reference-heavy dark comedy as he enforces rules, mediates disputes, and disciplines subordinates. Tones of dry wit and grim practicality pervade the narrative while avoiding major plot revelations.
