Synopsis

Hiroko Matsukata is an editor at a magazine whose professional identity is defined by single-minded dedication. At work she adopts an assertive, no-nonsense approach that lets her switch into a highly focused "working" mode. Her competence and reputation in the office contrast with her personal life, where she experiences a lack of romantic fulfillment. Despite being committed to her job, she prioritizes relationships when given the chance and will leave work early to keep a date. Complicating her search for balance, her boyfriend is even more absorbed in his career than she is, creating tension between their professional ambitions and their desire for a meaningful partnership.
