Synopsis

Beneath Fukuoka’s calm exterior exists a tense subculture of killers, investigators, and professional avengers. Zenji Banba, a relaxed yet perceptive detective, probes the activities of rival assassination groups operating in the city. One of those operatives is Xianming Lin, a crossdressing male hitman employed by a firm that increasingly sidelines him, leaving him without assignments or pay. After a target dies by suicide before Lin can complete the job and his employer refuses fair compensation, Lin demands another assignment and is tasked with eliminating Banba, whom his handlers blame for disrupting their operations. When Banba discovers Lin in his home, Lin does not attempt to carry out the hit; instead he proposes an alternative—forming a partnership. Faced with that offer, Banba must decide whether to accept an uneasy cooperation, while Lin’s intentions and the consequences for Fukuoka’s clandestine power balance remain uncertain.
