Synopsis

Set in Japan as the 20th century begins, this sequel follows Benio Hanamura, a spirited woman determined to push social progress forward. Rejecting the era’s expectation that women remain confined to domestic duties, she pursues independence and ambition. Her stance is challenged when Lieutenant Shinobu Ijuin, the single person who accepted her autonomy, disappears in combat. He eventually returns to Japan but cannot recall who he once was. The story examines whether Benio can restore their connection and preserve her choice in marriage before societal pressures threaten to bind her to another man.
