Kintarou Ooe earns a living through a succession of temporary positions, traversing Japan on his motorcycle, the Mikazuki 5. Each assignment exposes him to practical lessons beyond academic instruction, ranging from confronting political wrongdoing to understanding the fragile emotions of a young woman. With the open road as his path and numerous women he meets along the way, Kintarou pursues personal growth through hands-on experience while juggling a series of often undignified tasks. Every job contributes to his education and shapes his outlook, leaving open the possibility that his accumulated knowledge might one day enable him to make a significant difference.
