Hajime Ichinose's routine is disrupted when J.J Robinson gives her a compact book called NOTE that converts her into a member of the Gatchaman, the fabled defenders of Tachikawa City. Emphasizing the need for secrecy, veteran Gatchaman Sugane Tachibana escorts Hajime to their headquarters, where Paiman, a panda-like extraterrestrial who leads the team, explains their mission: to eliminate alien entities that endanger humanity. These hostile beings, known as MESS, grow ever more destructive, consuming and annihilating everything they encounter. The Gatchaman, now including Hajime, must confront these escalating hazards to prevent widespread devastation.
