Synopsis
After a disastrous attempt to reverse death through forbidden human transmutation, siblings Edward and Alphonse Elric face a drastically altered life: Alphonse has lost his physical body and exists bound to a suit of armor, while Edward survives only after sacrificing limbs to keep his brother anchored. They are taken in by neighbor Pinako Rockbell and her granddaughter Winry, a skilled bio-mechanical engineer who fits Edward with durable automail prosthetics. Driven by the desire to reclaim their original bodies, the brothers train and set out to find the Philosopher's Stone, a rare artifact said to let alchemists bypass the restriction of Equivalent Exchange. Edward adopts the moniker "Fullmetal" as his renown grows, and their quest draws them deeper into a vast, escalating conspiracy that imperils the world.
