Edward Elric, a gifted young alchemist, has endured severe loss: a failed attempt at human transmutation cost him two limbs and left his brother Alphonse without a body. Using advanced transmutation, Edward anchors Alphonse’s soul to a massive suit of armor. Elevated to the state title of Fullmetal Alchemist a year later, Edward sets out with Alphonse to locate the Philosopher’s Stone, a legendary artifact said to greatly boost an alchemist’s power and allow them to circumvent the alchemical principle that equivalent exchange must be maintained. Edward intends to use state support to secure the stone and restore their original bodies. As their search progresses, the brothers encounter deeper, hidden implications surrounding the stone and become entangled in a conflict far darker and more complex than they anticipated.
