Synopsis

Tatsumiyajima is a small, isolated island whose daily life is marked by calm and routine, where young residents assume their futures will remain tranquil. Beneath that placid surface, however, lies a far grimmer reality: the island serves as humanity's final bastion against an obscure and aggressive enemy. Central to this defense is the massive mecha Fafner, a dragon-like guardian whose pilots and defenders carry the heavy responsibility of protecting mankind's last refuge. The series follows the tension between ordinary island life and the immense burden of warfare, as community bonds and personal resolve are tested by the unfolding struggle to preserve human survival.
