Synopsis

Makoto Mizuhara agrees to speak against student council president Katsuhiko Jinnai over alleged election bribery. Pursued by Jinnai, Makoto finds that time halts for everyone except himself. Exploring the frozen campus, he discovers a light emanating from a sealed basement where an ancient relic has been unearthed. Approaching the artifact, Makoto encounters a strange woman who says she has awaited him for ten thousand years. Using the last of her strength, she sends a bewildered Makoto to another realm called El-Hazard. The same spell also ensnares Jinnai, Masamichi Fujisawa—the dissolute teacher—and Nanami Jinnai—Katsuhiko's determined sister—bringing all four to El-Hazard. In that extraordinary land they become involved with its people and face a journey that blends humor, peril, and emerging romantic tensions as they navigate the unfamiliar world.
