Synopsis

Momoko Sakura is a young elementary pupil affectionately called Chibi Maruko-chan because of her youth and small stature. She enjoys reading manga and admires the popular idol Momoe Yamaguchi. Living in a modest town, Momoko shares a household with her parents, grandparents, and older sister. At school she spends her days studying and playing with a circle of classmates: her close friend Tama-chan; student council members Maruo-kun and Migiwa-san; and the B-class trio composed of Hanawa-kun, Hamaji-Bu Taro, and Sekiguchi-kun. The series focuses on lighthearted, everyday experiences and the simple pleasures of childhood within family and community.
