Synopsis

Beings crafted by ancient European alchemists live among humans in human guise, preying on ordinary people. These homunculi can only be neutralized by specialized armaments called Kurogane, each manifesting uniquely in line with its user's instincts as abilities known as Busou Renkin. On his way home from school, Kazuki Mutou witnesses an assault by one of these creatures and, in attempting to help, finds his assumptions overturned when the intended victim rescues him. She is Tokiko Tsumura, and Kazuki soon discovers she has inadvertently embedded a Kurogane within him. Pulled unwillingly into the conflict with the homunculi, Kazuki must abandon his previous carefree routine to defend those important to him.
