Synopsis

Yoichi Isagi narrowly misses a championship-winning shot after choosing to pass, leaving him resentful and uncertain about his decision. Back home he receives an unexpected call from the national football association and is chosen—through a controversial, arbitrary process—as one of 300 under-18 forwards invited to a program called Blue Lock. The initiative aims to create Japan’s singular elite striker by forcing the selected players into successive individual and group trials that rank and eliminate competitors. Though conflicted by the project’s philosophy, Isagi resolves to push through the cutthroat system, accepting that his ascent will require outcompeting and effectively ending the ambitions of the other hopeful forwards.
