Synopsis

At True Cross Academy, Rin Okumura notices early indications that the boundary between the human world and unseen demonic presences is shifting: ordinary people are beginning to perceive the invisible beings that inhabit Assiah. Rin regards this as a chance to form new connections, but his twin Yukio is increasingly weighed down. Balancing studies, exorcist responsibilities, and a teaching role, Yukio has not revealed the awakening of his own abilities and struggles to grasp their scope and meaning. As Rin and his peers ready themselves for the annual Exorcist Certification Exam, the True Cross Order discovers the first manmade portal to Gehenna. The portal's scale and the sophisticated engineering behind it point to the involvement of the Illuminati, a clandestine, affluent, and influential faction. In addition, the Illuminati have embedded three operatives within the True Cross Order, and one of those agents may be concealed among the candidates who aim to defend humanity from demonic threats.
