Synopsis

An extremely negative educator named Nozomu Itoshiki, known as Zetsubou-sensei, attempts to instruct class 2-F by emphasizing life's misery and gloom. His effort proves more difficult than expected because his pupils are unusually eccentric: a relentlessly optimistic girl who counters his outlook, a student who obsessively follows him, a foreign exchange pupil exhibiting multiple personalities, a meticulously precise acting club leader, and an invisible individual who holds the real class presidency among others. The series blends dark, despair-focused themes with the oddities and emotional extremes of these students, maintaining a tone that juxtaposes bleak worldview with absurd character-driven situations.
