Synopsis

Seirin High's basketball squad seeks fresh players entering its second year, struggling to grow its roster until two first-year recruits, Taiga Kagami and Tetsuya Kuroko, provide exceptional ability. Kagami arrives from America as a natural talent, while Kuroko, unassuming in appearance, carries the legacy of being a member of Teikou Middle School's renowned "Generation of Miracles." Through joint training they begin forming a cooperative style, but during the Interhigh championship they suffer a crushing defeat against Touou Academy, where Kuroko's former teammate Daiki Aomine now plays. Aomine, bored by ordinary opponents, overwhelms their developing partnership and declares their efforts insufficient to surpass him. With the Winter Cup approaching, Seirin recommits to rigorous practice aiming to confront Touou again; despite intensified preparation, Aomine gradually learns to anticipate and counter Kuroko and Kagami's combined tactics.
