Synopsis

Violet Evergarden of the CH Postal Company is tasked with transcribing a love letter entrusted by Irma Felice, a renowned opera singer. When Violet meets Irma, she discovers the singer offers scant concrete details and instead asks Violet to render the message from Irma’s inner feelings. Violet composes multiple drafts, but each fails to satisfy Irma. Seeking alternative perspectives, Violet enlists coworkers who each produce their own versions of a love letter, yet those too are dismissed. With choices exhausted, Violet turns the conversation back to Irma, requesting direct insight into the singer’s genuine thoughts and emotions in hopes of finding what the previous drafts lacked. The story follows Violet’s effort to interpret and express Irma’s private heart without revealing outcomes or altering the emotional intent of the task.
