Synopsis

After a cataclysmic war, humanity confronts a new existential threat: vampires. The globe has fractured into opposing blocs—vampires known as Methuselah aligned with the New Human Empire, and humans labeled Terrans who constitute the Vatican Papal State—while extremist factions like the Rosenkreuz Order push to reignite full-scale conflict. In response to escalating terrorist activity, the Vatican forms the AX unit under Cardinal Caterina Sforza to investigate incidents involving vampires and to pursue a tenuous path toward coexistence. Among the AX operatives is Abel Nightroad, a priest whose absentminded, gentle demeanor conceals lethal prowess against vampires, and his partner Sister Esther Blanchett, a courageous young nun carrying a painful past. As Abel and Esther deepen their bond through joint missions, they uncover traces of sinister plots and unseen forces manipulating events, forcing them to face the traumatic memories that haunt them as violence and intrigue threaten the fragile balance between their peoples.
