Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai presents a series of standalone tales centered on Rohan Kishibe as he pursues material for his manga and encounters uncanny, often perilous situations. In "Fugou Mura," Rohan accompanies editor Kyouka Izumi to an isolated village where residents reportedly become wealthy at twenty-five after buying houses; during a house visit they face a servant who enforces rigid manners with lethal outcomes. "Mutsukabezaka" follows a conversation with editor Minoru Kagamari about six mountains bought to locate a fabled spirit called the Mutsukabezaka, framed by the story of heiress Naoko Osato, who after killing her lover becomes afflicted by the spirit's curse. In "Zangenshitsu," Rohan spends time in Venice and investigates a church confessional; inside he overhears a man confess a grim encounter with a starving beggar and the disturbing aftermath. "The Run" depicts model Youma Hashimoto, whose career fuels an increasing preoccupation with his physique; after meeting Rohan at a gym their rivalry escalates, driving Youma to prioritize training to dangerous extremes and culminating in a lethal treadmill challenge.
