Synopsis

Six months after the death of his unconventional grandfather Sir Wesley Disward, Lord Hugh Anthony Disward (Huey) inherits the family manor under a condition: he must assume responsibility for the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian, an archive that holds forbidden texts, and care for a cryptic girl named Dalian. As Huey adapts to his new role, an encounter arranged by one of Wesley’s longstanding adversaries reveals that the rival possesses a Phantom Book—the very kind of cursed volume Wesley sought to contain. Dalian, who recognizes the rival as her grandfather’s killer, accompanies Huey and becomes directly involved in confronting the danger posed by the tome. In the crisis that follows, Huey learns that Dalian and the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian are fundamentally linked, and she gives him the means to access the archive’s concealed knowledge. Together they manage to reseal the Phantom Book, and from that point on an unexpected partnership forms: Dalian and Huey collaborate to investigate and resolve incidents arising from other Phantom Books.
