Synopsis

Hanae Ashiya, indebted to the taciturn Haruitsuki Abeno, has grown dedicated to his role as an exorcist. His talent for conversing with youkai has instilled in him a duty to help these supernatural beings return to the Underworld, and he diligently carries out that work. Just as his routine and sense of purpose begin to settle, increased awareness of his activities draws attention and unease: not all parties accept a human serving the Mononokean, the interdimensional tea room that handles wayward spirits. A routine trip to the Underworld escalates tensions when those in authority take notice, and Ashiya discovers that some youkai resist Abeno’s methods. The story maintains a contemplative tone as it explores duty, the delicate balance between worlds, and the complications that arise when human intervention affects supernatural affairs.
