Synopsis

Set in Kyoto where tanuki and tengu quietly coexist with unaware humans, the story centers on Yasaburou Shimogamo, the third son of a prominent tanuki household. He spends his days tending to an elderly tengu, using his shapeshifting to watch human life, and navigating the enigmatic presence of a woman called Benten. Beneath the calm lies a traumatic past: his father, leader of the tanuki community, was once slain and consumed by a human group known as the Friday Fellows. The narrative follows Yasaburou and his brothers as they face ongoing dangers, strive to survive threats to their kind, and gradually approach the truth surrounding their father's demise.
