Synopsis

A delicate and withdrawn young duke lives under a dreadful affliction: any living thing he contacts withers and dies. Rejected by his kin, he is forced into seclusion within a distant estate. His existence is eased only by the presence of the manor's staff—Rob, a loyal and attentive butler, and Alice, a coquettish maid whose warmth counters his loneliness. As the duke's affection for Alice deepens, his anguish over the fatal boundary of his touch intensifies. Determined to end the malediction that has shaped his life, he embarks on a quest to lift the curse, driven by concern for both himself and the woman he cares for, aware of how perilous intimate contact would be for those he loves.
