Synopsis

Paradigm City is a fog-shrouded urban landscape where memories are scarce and remnants of past labors linger after a catastrophe four decades prior. The city’s amnesia and lingering ruins create an atmosphere of mystery and uneasy belonging. Roger Smith operates within this setting as a polished negotiator and operative, presenting a suave, well-dressed persona and a preference for funeral black. His professional dealings with clients often deepen beyond simple mediation, drawing him into crises that require him to confront crime and threats endangering the city. As Roger investigates, he uncovers further layers of the city’s hidden history and the complexities beneath its surface. He does not act alone: Norman, a resourceful and devoted butler, and Dorothy, a humanlike android characterized by dry wit, accompany him. They are aided by Big O, a massive, jet-black mecha relic whose imposing presence factors into Roger’s efforts to enforce a stern form of justice. Together they navigate Paradigm’s ambiguous morals and pursue revelations about the calamity that shaped the city forty years earlier.
