Synopsis

A collection of animated segments set in a universe where humans and artificial intelligences collide. In the opening piece, the Osiris crew uncovers an approaching invasion force and must repel relentless Sentinels while one member penetrates the simulated realm to warn their stronghold. The two-part historical account traces the rise of a human-created superintelligence, the fraught attempts at coexistence, and the slide into total war that ends with humanity confined within the simulation. Other vignettes focus on individual encounters with the fabricated environment: a young man unexpectedly learns his surroundings are an engineered illusion and escapes with the aid of a hacker; two combatants duel inside a reconstructed feudal Japan; a champion runner briefly tears free from a generated life only to return with his memories erased and be institutionalized; a woman seeking a lost pet stumbles into children exploring a glitch that appears as a haunted attraction; a detective is enlisted to pursue a famed intruder of the system; and researchers immerse a captured machine in a dreamlike world, leading to violence that leaves a lone scientist isolated with the robot. Across these stories, themes of simulated reality, the human–machine divide, resistance, loss, and isolation recur without revealing key plot resolutions.
