Synopsis

After a wave of assaults depletes the magical abilities of both educators and pupils, headmistress Liza Quillyn closes the College, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. Philomela Sargant finds herself unable to follow her grandmother Lizbeth's directive to leave. Confined within the grounds, Chise Hatori and her peers struggle to adapt to an unfamiliar, stressful existence. Philomela's condition deteriorates over time, affecting her mind and body, while memories and revelations about Chise's roommate, Lucy Webster, keep emerging. As Chise contends with concern for her friends and changes within herself, clues about the person responsible for siphoning magic from the school begin to emerge.
