Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Tenchi Masaki, raised on tales of an ancestor who trapped a demon with a sword centuries earlier, investigates the cave from those stories and discovers the weapon itself. Believing the legend to be mere folklore, he removes the blade and unintentionally frees the imprisoned being—actually a space pirate named Ryouko Hakubi. When Ryouko lashes out, Tenchi fends her off with the sword, awakening a latent power within him. Intrigued, Ryouko chooses to remain in Tenchi’s home. Soon thereafter, additional alien women arrive and begin residing with him: Aeka Jurai Masaki, a formal princess from the planet Jurai; her gentle younger sister Sasami; Mihoshi Kuramitsu, a scatterbrained Galactic Police officer; and Washuu Hakubi, a quick-witted scientific prodigy. As Tenchi interacts with these five women, he gradually uncovers more about his lineage, the nature of his newly revealed ability, and an ominous threat looming beyond the stars.
