Synopsis

A squid-like alien called a Happian departs his world intent on sharing happiness across the cosmos. He arrives on Earth and narrowly avoids capture by humans. An expressionless girl, Shizuka Kuze, discovers him, gives him food, and names him Takopii. Grateful, Takopii commits himself to making Shizuka smile. His mission is complicated: Shizuka faces bullying at school, lacks a father figure, and has a frequently absent mother—circumstances Takopii does not fully grasp. She does have one bright bond with her dog, Chappy, which deepens Takopii’s resolve. Takopii’s efforts often backfire in unexpected ways, yet he persists, learning about people and using his tentacles to try to fulfill his promise to bring happiness.
