Synopsis

Yamato Akitsuki leaves rural Hiroshima for Tokyo to start high school and, in exchange for lodging, assists his aunt and cousin with their bathhouse and the girls-only dorm where he lives. On his first walk he becomes captivated by a nearby high jumper training at the school track, later learning she is his dorm neighbor: Suzuka Asahina, a highly recruited athlete and classmate. Suzuka’s exacting standards and Yamato’s awkward, carefree manner create tension between them. Hoping to bridge that gap, Yamato discovers an aptitude for sprinting and joins the track team. As he trains and interacts with teammates, fellow students, and the often-drunk college residents of the dorm, he pushes himself physically and emotionally to grow as an athlete and as a companion to Suzuka, confronting exhaustion and personal limitations along the way.
