Synopsis

Loid Forger, a top-level operative, is alerted that his current assignment, Operation Strix, is at risk of reassignment unless he advances its goals. To preserve his role, he needs measurable progress tied to his adoptive daughter Anya’s accumulation of Stella Stars, which are required for acceptance as an Imperial Scholar at Eden Academy. Discovering a cooking contest that grants a Stella Star to the victor, Loid investigates the judge’s favored dessert to improve Anya’s chances. Reproducing that dessert, the meremere, proves to demand more than a written recipe, so the Forgers travel to the Frigis region to sample an authentic version. Their family trip becomes complicated when they become entangled in a covert scheme aimed at provoking renewed hostilities between Ostania and Westalis, forcing them to navigate both culinary challenges and geopolitical danger while protecting their cover and each other.
